Mizzoni, Peacock Shine, But WA Wrestling Pinned by Lowell, Chelmsford

The Westford wrestlers posted a victory against Peabody, but found large defeats at the hands of Lowell and Chelmsford.

It might have been right in their backyard, but the Westford Academy Grey Ghosts didn’t find much of a home field at Chelmsford High School last Saturday afternoon at the MIAA Division I North Dual Meet Sectional Tournament, as they fell to the Red Raiders of Lowell, 46-16.

The Grey Ghosts got off to a good start, defeating a short-staffed Peabody squad 45-24 during the early morning first round, and it appeared that their momentum would continue as heavyweight Mike Mizzoni scored a pin 2 minutes and 34 seconds into his showdown with Marco Ligande to even things up with the Red Raiders at six points apiece.

However, it only went downhill from there as Lowell dominated, taking every other match except for a pin by Westford 130-pounder Cam Peacock and 15-6 decision victory for 135-pounder Don Cerullo.
