Investigation into Missing Money from Westford Police Evidence Room Nearly Done: UPDATE

An internal investigation will begin once this one is wrapped up.

An investigation by the Attorney General's Office into missing money from the Westford Police Department evidence room is nearing its completion, Town Manager Jodi Ross said.

On August 14, 2015, money from "closed criminal cases" stored in a locked evidence room was discovered missing. The police chief alerted the Middlesex District Attorney and Attorney General's Offices.

An internal investigation will begin once the AG's investigation is completed, Ross said. She did not reveal how much money was missing, but said no convictions are in jeopardy.
