A Musical Tribute to Independence Day

The Chelmsford Community Band performs patriotic favorites on the Common during Chelmsford's Independence Day celebration, July 3rd, 7pm

As the school year comes to a close and people start looking for their swim trunks and flip flops, local residents know that it is also time to get out their lawn chairs and picnic blankets to prepare for another season of live performances on the Chelmsford Common by the Chelmsford Community Band.

The band will kick off its summer season with the crash of symbols and the thunder of traditional tunes like the “1812 Overture,” patriotic marches, and salutes to our armed forces. Join them as the sun sets on Chelmsford’s annual Independence Day celebration and then every Tuesday night afterward until mid-August.

Founded in 1972, the Chelmsford Community Band is a 60-piece ensemble of volunteers from Chelmsford, Westford, and the surrounding community, under the direction of Lucinda Ellert. It celebrates its rich tradition of providing live music performances in this area every summer with a free concert series on Tuesday evenings. Visit them on the web at www.chelmsfordband.org or follow them on Facebook.
