UPDATE: National Grid Postpones Gas Line Construction Project

The energy company postponed a project to replace its natural gas main lines on parts of Main Street and Leland Road.

Updated June 2: National grid has postponed its construction project to replace natural gas main lines in Westford, according to a town press release.

The construction was expected to occur on 72 to 137 Main Street and 1, 4 and 43 Leland Road. The company has decided to postpone the project — scheduled to begin June 1 — to coordinate efforts with the town's Main Street Reconstruction Program.

It is unknown when the National Grid construction project will resume, but residents will be notified when the work schedule is finalized.

WESTFORD, MA — National Grid will begin a construction project to replace natural gas main lines in Westford on June 1. The company will be replacing lines at 72 to 137 Main Street and 1, 4 and 43 Leland Road, according to a press release.

During the construction period, crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. The construction is expected to be completed by August 30.

People in the construction areas can expect some disruptions in traffic and gas service during construction. For some customers, excavation will be required on private property. A National Grid representative will contact you within two days of the required work if necessary, according to the press release.
