Not your usual "Hummingbird"

A surprise in my own back yard...

Westford is not only a great place to live and raise children; its rural landscape encourages garden of all kinds. Along with the natural beauty and more common flora and fauna sometimes there are surprises. I happened to have one in my garden this morning. At first glance, I thought I had a miniature hummingbird feeding in the Sweet William blossoms. I grabbed my camera and snapped more than a few shots of my rapid winged visitor. This tiny creature was definitely not a hummingbird. To my surprise, I found it was in fact what is called a hummingbird moth. So beautiful and amazing to see. I read that they frequent the same spot to feed so I might just pitch a tent out in my garden with my camera for a few days to see if he or she comes back....
