Nov. 8 Concert: Celestial Harmonies

The Chelmsford Community Band presents a concert that explores both inner and outer space through music.

On Sunday, November 8th, at 2pm, the Chelmsford Community Band will be forming up on the launch pad at the Chelmsford Senior Center for a program of heavenly delights entitled “Celestial Harmonies.” An epic look at the Great Beyond, this collection of music themed on inner- and outer-space will launch the audience’s collective consciousness into space with Strauss’s “Thus Spake Zarathustra,” lead them into a contemplation of the universe with “The Three Revelations of the Lotus Sutra” by Reed, and thrill Holst fans with visits to Mars, Venus, and Jupiter through those three movements of “The Planets.” Other selections will touch on themes of Heaven and Paradise before the audience is finally returned to Earth.

The concert will blast off from the Senior Center at 75 Groton Road in North Chelmsford. Suggested donations at the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. The Chelmsford Community Band is a 60-piece adult ensemble of volunteer musicians who have brought live performances of concert and jazz music to the Chelmsford region since 1972.
