Religious Exhibit at the Westford Museum Showcases Westford's Religious Diversity
New exhibition of Westford's local religious institutions to run through the end of summer
The Westford Museum is currently displaying pieces from over half a dozen of Westford’s religious institutions as part of a special exhibit.
Their exhibit, which will run until the end of the summer, features religious pieces from over half a dozen houses of worship that encompass eight different religions.
Setting up and gathering items for the exhibit was no small task. Museum volunteer Melissa Phillips said that the whole process took roughly two months.

“First of all, we had to go around to all of the churches and temples and tell them about it and see how interested they would be in lending items,” Phillips said. “Then we went through the files of the museum to find items that would be appropriate.”
The exhibit is main showpiece on the museum’s second level, occupying the central part of the room. The main table features an assortment of items from the town’s numerous Christian houses of worship, a Buddhist altar and items from the town's Jewish synogogues, with each having their own cases at each end of the table.

“Everyone was very cooperative in lending objects for the exhibit,” Phillips said. “That was really nice.”
The museum, located at 2 Boston Road, is open every Sunday afternoon from 2-4.
This was the first piece in a limited series on the religious institutions of Westford.
