Route 3 Hooligans Toss Log, Rock At Vehicles: Police
Massachusetts State Police said one or more suspects threw a log and a rock at vehicles on Route 3, causing two serious crashes.

CHELMSFORD, MA — State Police are investigating after someone popped out of the woods on Route 3 and threw a rock at a driver in Chelmsford and then heaved a log at a tractor-trailer in Tyngsborough. In both cases, the drivers crashed but escaped serious injury, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police at 508-820-2300.

The tractor-trailer incident happened Wednesday at about 1 a.m. on Route 3 southbound in Tyngsborough. The driver said someone threw a log at his windshield, causing him to swerve, police said. The trailer then flipped over on the road. The driver, a 39-year-old Warren man, was not hurt.

Then on June 22 at about 2 p.m., a woman driving a Honda Civic on Route 3 southbound in Chelmsford told police someone threw a rock at her windshield. She veered into a ditch, police said. The driver, a 22-year-old Easton woman, was not hurt.
