Snow Sculpture Contest Deadline Extended to Feb. 28

The Westford Winter FunFest contest is now accepting photos of your snow sculpture.

Did you build a snow sculpture in recent weeks and have photos of it? See if it's the best in town by entering the Westford Winter FunFest's Snow Sculpture contest.

Organizers recntly extended the submission deadline to Mon. Feb. 28.

The contest is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell and Verizon-FIOS.

Photos of your unique snowman, snowhouse, or snow figure must be sent to info@lowellhabitat.org.

Winners will be announced for four divisions:

  • Children-only built at home
  • Family/group built (including scouts, youth groups, and businesses)
  • Adult (including high school students)
  • Westford schools (K-12) and childcare centers

Include the name of the participants, division, sculpture theme, address, and a phone number. If you are under 18 years old a parent/leader/guardian name must be included.  Winners will be announced Feb. 18.

In addition to being recognized as the best snow sculptors in Westford, winners will have their sculpture on the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell website, Winter FunFest website and local newspapers/media outlets. The sculpture will also be featured in the Roudenbush Community Center Winter 2011 Brochure.

Each participant will receive a  certificate to show off to everyone.

Here are the rules:

  1. Sculptures should be placed in an easily accessible area for ease in judging and seeing by the public.
  2. There is no theme, but sculptures must be in good taste and family friendly.
  3. Non-toxic dyes and props may be used.
  4. Contestants participate at their own risk.
  5. The Westford Winter FunFest Committee, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell, and Verizon-FIOS will not be held responsible for any personal injury or loss of or damage to any personal property.
  6. The Westford Winter FunFest Committee, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell, and Verizon- FIOS reserves the right to acquire all visual documentation (including photos) and to use the documentation for promotional and informational purposes without indemnity to the participants. Judging points will be given for most creative, funniest, best use of the winter theme, and use of materials -- including snow and other materials.

Special rules for the Westford school/childcare center divison:

  1. Build snow sculptures of your school/child care center's mascot, favorite animals, cartoon characters, or even your favorite teacher.
  2. All K-12 schools/child care centers that register a snow sculpture will be entered into a drawing for a special $100 Gift Certificate to Staples or Michaels for their classroom, school or childcare center.

SPECIAL NOTE: All residential, K-12 schools and business sculptures must register with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell at info@lowellhabitat.org  as soon as their sculptures are completed and email 2-3 digital pictures of the sculpture and send them to info@lowellhabitat.org.
