Special Town Meeting for Bylaw Amendment

There will be a Special Town Meeting to discuss a recently submitted Citizen Petition aiming to amend a bylaw regarding legal affairs.

The meeting is scheduled to take place Monday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Abbott School Gym.

The petition, which provides a contact name of Alisa Nakashian-Holsberg, wishes to see bylaw 33.1 and 33.2 examined, including that the Selectmen, with the assistance of Town Counsel, can "institute, prosecute and defend any and all claims, actions and proceedings to which the Town is a party or in which the interests of the Town are or may be involved," in actions involving the Town, not just in cases against the Town, which is how it presently reads.
