Westford Heroin Arrest: Dealer Caught with 20+ Ounces, State Police Say

Juan Mendez, of Harrisburg, Penn., was arrested Thursday.

The following is from State Police:

At about 9:45 a.m. today (Thursday), Trooper Kyle Kilimonis was on patrol on Route 495 South near exit 32 in Westford when he observed a 2009 Ford Econoline Van traveling at a high rate of speed in the left travel lane. Trooper Kilimonis subsequently stopped the vehicle and, following an investigation, he discovered that a passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old JUAN MENDEZ of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was in possession of approximately 570 grams (20.1 ounces) of a substance believed to be heroin. Another occupant of the vehicle, 27-year-old PABLO ALBINO of Lawrence, had an outstanding arrest warrant for Operating Without A License.

MENDEZ and ALBINO were both placed under arrest and booked at the State Police Barracks in Concord. MENDEZ was charged with Trafficking in Heroin and held on $500,000.00 cash bail pending his arraignment in Ayer District Court tomorrow. ALBINO was transported to Concord District Court. The operator of the van was cited for Speeding and Committing a Left Lane Violation.
