Student Stylists Learn To Cut With Computers
At Nashoba Valley Technical High School, cosmetology students using a new program that can help them see potential styles before heading to real life hair.

It's still unclear where blondes truly have more fun, but a new computer program at is letting future hairstylists have more fun as they learn their craft.
Cosmo Cuts, the school's teaching hair salon, recently acquired "Cyber Imaging" a computer tool that helps students see potential hairstyles in a virtual setting.
“It’s so cool,” said Donna McMahon, a Cosmetology instructor at the school. “It’s great for when someone wants to see how they’d look with a different hairstyle.”

The program takes a picture of a client, then allows the student stylist to match it with different styles, colors, textures, lengths and skin tones.
“It’s a great tool for the students,” McMahon said. “They have to select a color, figure what the level of the natural color is and then the desired color. And it also recommends hair products for the different styles and colors.”

Cosmo Cuts is open to the public Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9 a.m. to noon, when school is in session, and Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to noon, for special groups.
