Summer Prayer Walks and More

Prayer Walks and More at St. Mark’s Church

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is expanding its Missions ministry and invites people from Westford and the surrounding community to take part, regardless of faith background. During the summer, the pace of life slows down, providing time for reflecting on our place as servants within our community and in the world, and then acting on our desires to make a difference. This summer, St. Mark’s offers several ways to take steps along your own faith journey.

Do you find being outside in the natural world invites you to be aware of God’s presence? Reverend Suzanne Wade will lead monthly Prayer Walks on several of Westford’s beautiful hiking trails. Each prayer walk will incorporate pauses for prayer, readings, and opportunities to observe the beauty of our surroundings. Walks are typically easy hikes of 1.5 miles or less. Dates for this year are: July 10, Aug. 7, Sept. 18, and Oct. 16. Participants will gather at 3 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Mark’s, 75 Cold Spring Road, Westford.

Have you heard about the Westford Community Garden, but were not able to start a plot of your own this spring? St. Mark’s has a plot in the garden where we are growing vegetables and herbs to donate to local food pantries. Last year, all the members of the Community Garden contributed to this effort. St. Mark’s welcomes newcomers to our plot to help with weeding, watering, and harvesting. If you are interested, please call the church to learn more.

Would you like to join a group to engage in global ministry? St. Mark’s is in the planning stages of a pilgrimage trip to Haiti to offer services and build relationships through HOPEH (Haitian Organization Program for Education and Health). Contact the Reverend Suzanne Wade to learn more about this pilgrimage. Participation is open to anyone age 16 or older, including non-St. Mark's members.
