Sustainable Westford is a non-profit most notably responsible for the Westford Farmers Market. But it has become much more over the past 2 years. They are committed to providing education and inspiration on issues of sustainability. From food to recycling, Sustainable Westford has got "green" issues covered. The following are a few of its current programs.
Westford Farmers Market

The cornerstone of Sustainable Westford. Fresh produce, fruit, artists, music and more on the common throughout the summer and early fall. Starting last year, the farmers market has held an indooor witner market. This year’s final winter market is this Saturday, March 31 at Eric’s Garden Center. The summer market opens June 19.
Westford Healthy Kids Coalition

Started last spring by concerned Westford parents.
“The mission of the Healthy Kids Coalition is to engage the community in making positive, healthy changes to support our school’s efforts towards physical fitness, healthier food options, and overall wellness.” WHC brought "Jump Rope Jive" to Westford and has recently completed a survey to help improve school lunches. They hope to bring the "Chefs Move to Schools'" program to Westford next fall.
Upcycle It!
A unique recycling program that collects non-recyclables such as chip bags, granola bar wrappers, cookie wrappers and more to keep them out of the waste stream. These items are sent to a company called TerraCycle. TerraCycle donates two cents per item and pays for shipping. The items are then upcycled into new products such as backpacks, tote bags, and flower pots. To date, Upcycle It! has raised over $5000 donated to Westford Schools via
Coming up – Earth Day Dinner
This hands on workshop will show you how to create delicious healthy meals at home with a focus on local and organic foods. Nutritional tips on what to eat and why will also be discussed. Registration is required. Check the Westford Farmers Market website for more details.
More workshops and programs are being discussed. Sustainable Westford is an all-volunteer organization and greatly appreciate and need your support to bring more programs to our town.
