- Sally Rosenthal: "While I don’t plan to suddenly start drilling my kids with math problems and forcing them to practice piano for hours, I did really enjoy this book. And perhaps her single-minded approach is what I need to finally teach my boys how to tie their sneakers. It might not take them to Carnegie Hall, but I sure would be proud of them!"
- Tracy LeBlanc Cook: "When leaving the hospital with my first child, I remember stopping at the front door, knowing that with one more step I'd be on my own. "Wait, where are the directions?" I've purchased a lot of parenting books, and I have yet to find a straightforward instruction manual. Tiger Mother sounds like an honest account of one mother's experience, although somewhat extreme. Personally, I've never been a fan of "extreme" anything. Hours of piano each day? Really? Yet, there are undoubtedly some lessons that each of us can take away from this book, even if we need to scale them back a bit. What makes this book different is that it is written by a mother (not a specialist) who openly shares her experience, and finds humor in it along the way. I'm curious!"
- Betty Gorton: "Although I doubt I would have picked up this book, the review has made me interested enough to get a copy. Amy Chau sounds a bit too militant in her parenting style, but has obviously gotten results in her children's successes. But at what cost? The review mentions Chau's humor and I'd like to uncover that thread of humor."
