VIDEO: Westford Softball Drops Opener

The Westford Academy girls softball team was no-hit by Chelmsford in its season opener Wednesday, dropping a 5-0 decision. Chelmsford's Megan Rich spun the no-hitter at the Lions' field.

Despite a tough day in terms of scoring runs, Westford's Ashley Steinhouse was able to steal to third off a walk in the third inning. Rachel Desrochers also  made a great catch for an out in the fifth.

"That’s a good Westford team, they played well last year and made the tournament," said Chelmsford coach Bruce Rich.

Westford returns to action this Friday.
