Westford Academy Students Diagnosed with MRSA, Staph Infections

BREAKING: The school is disinfecting locker rooms, gym mats and equipment.

WESTFORD, MA — Students at Westford Academy have been diagnosed with MRSA and Staff Infections, the school announced Wednesday.

In a communication sent to parents, Westford Public Schools superintendent Everett V. Olsen indicated that the school will be disinfecting locker rooms, gym mats and equipment. The communication did not indicate how many students were diagnosed.

"Westford Academy understands the urgency in addressing these infections immediately, and will continue to disinfect locker rooms, gym mats and equipment," Olsen wrote."In addition, all coaches are reviewing with their athletes the signs and symptoms, as well as methods to prevent Staph infections."
