Westford Defeats Sixers, 7-6

Late runs were enough for a close affair at home in Littleton.

Four late runs helped the Westford Willows earn a 7-6 victory over the visiting Clinton Sixers in Central New England Baseball Association action on Tuesday.

Both teams got off to an early start, with Westford getting a run from Southern New Hampshire University catcher Joe Gargan, countering a run from Clinton’s Steve Scannell, an ’09 Assumption College graduate.

Clinton took the lead again in the second in a four-run, five-hit second inning, but the Willows narrowed the gap with two runs in the third before Gargan scored once again in the seventh and last inning, with Wentworth’s Joe Hulme and fellow Penmen Ryan Thompson and Sean McCarthy also contributing runs of their own.
