Westford's Schoolboy Standouts Eye College
Westford residents and high school athletic standouts Alex Eaton of Westford Academy and Bob Fahey of Bishop Guertin announced their college intentions last week.
Alex Eaton may have taken nearly two dozen touchdowns this year for , but he and another Westford high school athlete appear to have bright futures awaiting them next year in college.
Eaton and his former Bishop Guertin teammate Bob Fahey signed their letters of intent last week, heading to Lehigh and UMass Amherst respectively next year armed with scholarships in lacrosse.
Although Eaton's switch back from New Hampshire this season was difficult for Fahey, he respects the choice and believe that he and Alex both made the right choice to focus on lacrosse moving forward.

"He was one of my best friends, I was sad that he dropped Bishop Gueritn, but I think he made the right decision," said Fahey. "His work ethic is unreal and it showed on the field. Me and him were the same way, we played football, but lacrosse was our real focus."
Fahey considered rejoining Eaton as Lehigh as one of his final choices for a college, but after consultation with his parents, he figured that Amherst was the best decision.

"It would be great playing with Al again, but this was an individual decision, I had to make sure I did what was best for me," he said. "UMass is close to home, and provides a good balance of academic and athletic opportunities."
As for Eaton, he's made a significant impact in the Westford Academy culture this year according to Athletic Director Dan Twomey and expectations are high for him to leave one final mark for the Grey Ghosts this spring as he takes the lacrosse field.
"We're excited for Al and his accomplishments so far," said Westford Academy lacrosse coach Matt Tholander. "Al is a great team guy, an athlete, and competitor, and we are expecting a positive contribution from him this spring in lacrosse."
