Westford's Verocel Wins $6.2 million for Airplane Safety Contract

The Littleton-road based company will create the next generation of a system that helps airplanes locate themselves in the air.

The next time you head you fly to your destination, a Westford company may there keeping you safe.

Based on Littleton Road next to Meat Again, Westford’s Verocel has just received a $6.2 million single-source contract from the Federal Aviation Administration according to a report from Marketwire.

The contract is geared toward developing the next generation of safety computers for use in the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), an air navigation aid that augments the satellite based Global Positioning System (GPS).

"For Verocel, this contract award is particularly significant because it validates that our expertise extends beyond safety-critical software verification and is indeed fully system-wide in scope," said George Romanski, president of Verocel. "We are leading all phases of the WAAS safety computer development, specification and design effort, including hardware, system integration and test, software verification and more, all the way through to finished-goods manufacturing and delivery."
