Westford Soccer Teams in the Commissioner Cup Finals
Ten of Westford's youth soccer teams qualify for postseason play in the Commissioner's Cup held in Tewksbury during the weekend.
A total of 10 teams from Westford participated in the Commissioner's Cup in Tewksbury over the weekend.
Sponsored by the Middlesex Youth Soccer League for teams which qualified for postseason play, the teams participated in a three-game round-robin format to determine who would accumulate the most points and win the Commissioner's CupThe winners of the Commissioner Cup finals will qualify for the state tournament which will be held in Lancaster on June 24-26.
The BU14 team displayed teamwork with both quick passes and strong soccer skills. Cooper Havican was the sole goal scorer for the team during the three-game round robin series. Game scores were 2-1, Malden winning; 3-2, Woburn; and Chelmsford 1-0.

Defense was also strong with outstanding performances by both the goalkeeper Brennan Doherty and Bryson Friedlander as defense. With strong running and quick passwork, Westford's BU14 team worked hard to overcome their opponents. Losing all three games during the Commissioner's Cup was not a reflection of their overall ability.
"This was truly an enjoyable season and a great group of kids. They all worked hard to pull together as a team. I consider this and hope in time the kids do also a very successful season," said Coach Martin Turnbull for Westford's BU14 team.

There were both good games and good sportsmanship displayed at the Commissioner's Cup this past weekend.
