Westford Softball Wallops Wayland, 17-1

The Westford Academy softball squad exploded for 17 runs and 19 hits en route to a 17-1 defeat of Wayland on Wednesday. 

Sophomore center fielder Emily Chateauneuf led the charge offensively with three hits and four RBI. 

Other Grey Ghost hitters with multiple-hit games included Rachel Desrochers, Christie Raymond, Alexa Sullivan, Bianca Tardi and Allie Brody. 

On the mound, junior Kayleigh Culhane held Wayland to only a single unearned run over the first three innings before sophomore Deanna Johnston came on to work two innings of hitless relief.  

Defensively, infielders Desrochers and Tardi had strong games with four assists each. 

With the win, Westford evens its record at 4-4.
