Westford Student A National Track Star With Bishop Guertin

Chris Cogliano earns All-American Honors with Bishop Guertin in Nashua

The Spring 2011 High School Track and Field season is over, but the memories will live long into the future for Westford’s Chris Cogliano.

Winning the prestigious All-American honors, Cogliano made his mark on the high school track world in New Hampshire this year with Bishop Guertin in Nashua, making it to the state Meet of Champions in the 1600 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay and narrowly missing a first place finish in the 4x1 mile relay at the New Balance Nationals by just 12 minutes.

“Oh gosh, I’m so proud of him, he’s worked very hard” said Chris’s mother Lori. “He’s just been really focused about running and doing well, and he’s thrilled to become an All-American.”

Now a high school graduate, Chris is hoping to continue his running career at Boston College in the fall, but he acknowledges that his success wouldn’t have been possible without his start running throughout Westford.

“As you know, Westford is a hilly town, so I spent a lot of time running Depot Street, Cold Spring, Forge Village, all these places,” he said. “But the support from people in Westford was also great because there are a lot of great coaches stoke my passion for running.”
