Westford Water Mains Being Flushed Starting Today

Check out the schedule and what this means for you.

The following is from the Town of Westford:

The Westford Water Department will conduct flushing of the water mains in Westford as part of our comprehensive maintenance program.

Flushing will occur between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday starting March 21 and continuing through May. This program involves opening fire hydrants to create increased water flows which dislodge and remove naturally occurring sediment in the water mains. Flushing is critical to maintain water quality and main carrying capacity. It may cause colored water and/or low pressure. Consequently, we recommend that you fill bottles with water before flushing begins that day in your area. Also, we recommend that you avoid doing laundry during flushing in your area.

If you experience colored water after the scheduled flushing completion time, run your cold water for 5 to 10 minutes to clear your service line. If your water does not clear, or if you have concerns regarding the flushing program please call the Water Department at 978-692-5529. We appreciate your patience while we work to protect our water quality. If you are a landlord please make sure that your tenants receive this notice.

Please visit our website at www.westfordma.gov/water for a flushing schedule. This schedule is subject to change as weather conditions and length of flushing times may vary. The website will be updated regularly to include any changes to the schedule.
