The U11 Maroon boys traveled to Ward Field in Marlboro this past Sunday.  Rhys Whitehill fed the perfect pass to Dylan Breen (3 goals) to score the first goal and put Westford on the board.  Scoring opportunies continued through the first half with goals scored by Pressley Mead (3 goals,) John Alfano, and Ryan Crann.  Strong defensive players, Ryan Reid, Harry Laushine, and Nick Green worked with skilled goaltender Brian Ellis on the other end of the field to hold Marlboro from scoring.  With a powerful lead as the game continued into the second half, Westford switched players positons and increased passing before shooting on goal.  Harry Laushine received a swift pass from Ryan Crann and shot the ball over the shoulder of the Marlboro goalie.  Dylan Breen fed a sweet pass to Jack Healy who turned and scored in the bottom left corner of the net.  Nick Green worked with his teammates to make good on his scoring opportunity- he sent a rocket into the net.  Westford Maroon was in the lead, but they weren't finished working as a team!  The boys continued strong passing and soon Carlos Dion caught a pass from Pressley Mead and shot a bullet into the goal.  Teamwork was coordinated during this game and the players worked together to soar to this strong win!

 U15 Boys

Westford Grey Select 9 vs  Weston 6

The Westford Grey Select team ran their record to 7-0 with a 9-6 victory over a very good Weston team.  Other than a 5 minute defensive lapse in the 2nd quarter which allowed Weston to score 3 unanswered goals and get back into the game, Westford played very solid throughout.  Leading the scoring for Westford was Attackman Richard Paglia who had 5 goals and 1 assist on the game.  He converted on virtually every scoring opportunity he had and was immense on ground balls.  Alex Flanagan also had a stellar game with 2 goals and 3 assists.  He capped off the day with a rocket just under the cross bar that the Weston goalie had no chance on.  Other scorers include Justin Linden (1 goal, 1 assist) and Jason Hughes (1 goal).  Jason put forth a tremendous effort on ground balls that helped Westford maintain possession for the majority of the game.  Jack Cusworth was outstanding in net coming up with huge saves at critical junctures in the game.  The defensive core for Westford (Derek Beatty, Ryan Delaney, Reilly Enos, Kyle Martin and Brandon McNabb) continues to play very well and stepped it up once again against a very potent Weston offense.  Up next for Westford Grey will be Acton-Boxboro on Wednesday, May 16 in Acton.

U15 Team #1 Westford defeats Tyngsboro and Westboro

The U-15 Black team came up with 2 nice victories this past week with a 5-4 win over Tyngsboro and a 13-8 win over Westboro to run their record to 4-3 on the season.  In a rematch against Tyngsboro, Brennan Atkins and Cabot Rolt shared the goaltending duties and came up with several big saves to stifle the Tyngsboro offense.  Andrew Merrell tallied with his 2nd goal of the season on a very nice move where he dodged his defender from behind the net and used his athleticism to out-race him to the crease and beat the goalie up high.  Other scorers include Jason Hughes (1 goal), Richard Paglia (2 goals, 1 assist) and Derek Beatty (1 assist).  In the Westboro game, it was truly a team effort as everyone contributed, especially some of the newcomers.  Connor Huang came up with several ground balls, and used his speed both on clears and getting back on defense to catch the Westboro midfielders.  Jon Kruger had a nice goal and also contributed with an assist.  Zach Goldberg came up with a loose ball in front of the Westboro net on a rebound and quickly put back a nice bounce shot for his first goal of the season.  Andrew Merrell tallied for this 3rd goal of the season and Brian Curran played excellent on both midfield and defense.  Brian came up with many ground balls and played great team lacrosse by passing the ball down field quickly on clears.  Westford next plays Lexington on Sunday, May 20th at home.

U13 Girls

Westford Red vs Bedford

The Westford Red U13 girls lacrosse team played Bedford on Sunday for their fifth game of the season. Once again with only 13 players on hand the Red team played two excellent halves of lacrosse. Playing great at midfield winning numerous ground balls and clearing the ball several times where Katelyn Wing and Makena Waterhouse.
