WestfordCAT Debuts Biweekly News Magazine Program
WestfordCAT now has a biweekly news program on their website, their YouTube channel, and their public access television channels.

WestfordCAT launched a new program on their website, their YouTube channel, and their public access television channels that aims to give both highlights and on-the-scene coverage of the top issues and happenings around Westford. “With Andy Sylvia now on board as our News Director,” says Lauren Horton, Executive Director of WestfordCAT, “we can now bring relevant and timely stories to residents who use video and the internet to stay informed with current happenings.” Sylvia was the former editor of the Westford and Chelmsford Patch, an online news source for suburban towns, and more recently had continued covering stories for Westford on his new website, westfordtemplate.com. Now, as news director, Sylvia drives the content for what will be included in each new program, which comes out every other Friday on Comcast Channel 8 and Verizon 35 tonight at 8:30pm. Or check it out anytime on YouTube or on our website.
“I love the town of Westford and all the connections I’ve made from covering stories for the last four years,” says Sylvia. “Merging efforts with WestfordCAT is allowing me to continue covering this great town with the added resources that a public access station provides. “ Sylvia has been working closely with George Cox, WestfordCAT’s production manager, who both anchors and edits the show. “The first show is always the toughest,” says Cox, “because not only are you producing the stories but also the overall look of the show. In two weeks, we’ll have our next show, with more segments, and it will just get better and better.”
WestfordCAT hopes that more individuals, organizations and businesses will get involved in doing stories for the show and gain experience in journalism and video production. You can call the station at 978-692-7152 or send email to asylvia@westfordcat.org with story ideas or offers to help. You can also learn more by registering to attend their next New Producer Orientation workshop on September 30 at 6:30pm. Go to westfordcat.org to register.
