Westford's Jim Arciero Re-elected in Emotional Campaign
His father, Gerard, died days before the election.

Westford’s Jim Arciero won re-election Tuesday in a “bittersweet” victory.
His father, Gerard, died Oct. 25.
Arciero, a Democratic state representative who represents the Second Middlesex District, defeated Republican Dennis Galvin and unenrolled candidate Arleen Martino.

Arciero’s district includes Westford, Chelmsford, and Littleton. This will be his fourth straight term.
“It was a bittersweet night,” Aricero said in a statement. ”I wish my father was there to share it with me. However, I know he’s looking down at me and and proud of what we have been able to achieve.”

When his father died, Arciero halted campaigning for the moment. Galvin issued a statement extending his sympathies.
