WYBA Junior Girls' Results: Jan. 13-15

Orange Starbursts 12
Orange Crush 10

In a tough game between the Crush and the Starbursts, the Starbursts pulled out the victory. Emma Quaranto, Emily Morin, Maddie Guthrie, and Cailin McEnaney all contributed on offense for the StarBursts. Lauren Humphrey, Abby Quinlan, Tanya Singh and Shefali Tamaskar played outstanding defense for the Crush. Fiona Cotter and Sydney Jones played great on offense and Julie Camara and Olivia Lohmeier played tough defense. It was a great game from start to finish.

LemonHeadz 19
Surfers 22

In a neck and neck race the Surfers will able to hang tight and pull out their first victory with good defense from Katherine Gallant and Emily Stander. Dominating the boards were Maya Barber Mingo and Pratusha Mulpur. Kerri Murphy showed excellent ball control. Ultimately the game was very competitive and both teams showed great hustle and heart.

Phoenix 14
UmpaLumpas 12

Phoenix pulled out a close 14-12 victory over the UmpaLumpas led by the terrific offense and defense of Lily Kinney. Lauren Guglielmo contributed with great ball control, several steals, and a key basket in the second half to seal the victory. Casey Mahoney and Meghana Gunnamreddy both showed great heart playing thru injuries. The UmpaLumpas were led by the scoring of Sasha Pelosky with support from Lauren Berk and Leyla Singh. Ellen Olszouy was a force on defense with several steals and blocks. Phoenix returned from 2 deficits in the game and never gave up. Sisters Samantha and Lauren Doherty kept up the defensive pressure in the second half along with Angela Mancuso and Catherine Yorke. In the final minutes, the Pheonix was able to force turnovers to keep the lead in a game that went down to the final seconds.

Electric Eels 14
Crazy Pink Panthers 12

It was a very close game between these 2 awesome teams but the Eels pulled ahead in the end for the win. Gigi Ottaviano had an outstanding game on offense and defense. Emily Blagg, Morgan Rose, and Katie Flanagan also helped with great rebounds and good shots. The Eels played great defense allowing them to pull ahead for the win in the second half. For the Crazy Pink Panthers, Caroline Gabriel had a great game with many steals. Amanda Urban and Katie Cullen contributed with numerous baskets and Sam Gruber also played terrific. In the final seconds of the game, the Eels slithered there way to victory. Great game Pink Panthers !

Terror Tucans 2

Overall a great game by everyone ! Riley McDermott showed great passing and skills on offense. Julia Berg did a fantastic job on both offense and defense. Greats hustle and rebounds by Caitlin Canusscio and Grace O'Sullivan. Morgan Freud played a great game for the Tucans. Nice job girls !

Shamrock Shooters 18
Blue Lightening 8

The Shining Shamrock Shooters came out on top agains the Blue Lightening with excellent teamwork. Natalie Targ played well under the basket with awesome rebounds followed by great shooting. Laura Devlin had some nice steals on defense while Katherine Dickey was always present with aggressive defense. For the Lightening, Priyanha Maudgal had many nice rebounds and Briana Frankfurt snuck in under the net for some nice shots. Meghan McGee scored the teams last basket which caused her father (the coach) to buy the team pizza to fulfill his bet that he made with the team to score in the last minute.

Purple Urple Flurples 18
Gobstoppers 10

The powerful Purple Urple Flurples played a groovy game against the great Gobstoppers. For the Flurples, Graceful Grace Santana and stellar Sydney Kennedy played amazingly aggressive while charming Chip Crimmins and creative Caroline Burke really dominated on defense. For the Gobstoppers, super Sam Eynon and stupendous Sydney Roche had some sassy steals while jumping Jacqueline LaBarre rocked at rebounding.
