11th Annual Croquet Classic a Huge Success!

Friends of South Shore Health raise more than $27,500 for pediatric programs

It was a day of whimsy and wonder as more than 130 enthusiastic participants attended the 11th annual Croquet Classic and Ultimate Lawn Party.

At the Alice in Wonderland-themed event, guests helped raise more than $27,500 for South Shore Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric programs. Attendees mingled amid whimsical Alice in Wonderland décor, played croquet, lawn games and enjoyed sumptuous food and refreshments at the historic Daniel Webster Estate in Marshfield.

Money raised from the event will help purchase special, custom-made white boards to be placed in Labor and Delivery rooms at South Shore Hospital. The unique white boards serve as integral tools in the hospital’s “Team Birth Project” – which aims to empower all members of the birth team (including mother and her birth partner) to have an equal voice, communicate openly, and practice in shared decision-making throughout the labor and delivery process.

Proceeds from past Croquet Classic events have provided sleeper chairs for parents staying overnight at the hospital, a hearing screener for newborns, toys for the children’s toy chest and Angel Eye webcams in the NICU and Special Care Nursery.

The event was sponsored by The Friends of Pediatrics, which champions the support of critical pediatric services including Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Specialty Clinics and the Pediatric Emergency Department at South Shore Hospital.
