90th Birthday Party Set for Longtime Weymouth Teacher

The Weymouth schools will celebrate the birthday of former teacher and current substitute Vinny DiSessa.

The Weymouth Public Schools will hold a special birthday celebration for former teacher Vinny DiSessa’s 90th birthday on Jan. 16.

DiSennsa, who taught in Weymouth from 1955 through 1990 has remained with the schools as a substitute teacher according to the Boston Globe.

“He represents so much of what we value and believe as a school and community, so we are going to pause and take time to learn more about him so students can gain a better appreciation for the value of living life with beneficial principles and values,” district spokeswoman Betsy Harris told the Globe.

Students will see a video on DiSessa before leading a discussion on his impact on improving school climate and culture. The birthday party will be held in the high school cafeteria.
