Alleged Weymouth Bank Robber Held on $100,000 Bail
Police say Luis Mallet robbed a bank in Weymouth and tried to escape in an Uber.

Quincy, MA — A judge has ordered a Weymouth man charged in a bank robbery held on bail.
Luis Mallett, 29, was arraigned Tuesday in Quincy District Court and charged with unarmed robbery and false report of an explosive device.. He will be held on $100,000 cash bail.

Monday night at about 5 p.m., police in Weymouth responded to a reported bank robbery at the Santander Bank on Pleasant Street. The suspect, identified as Mallett, allegedly passed a note demanding money and indicating he had a bomb, according to the Weymouth Police Department.

Mallett then fled the bank on foot. A witness told an off-duty officer that Mallett entered an Uber heading to Brockton. Police say a K9 unit was able to track Mallett from the bank to where he entered the Uber.
The Uber vehicle, a Nissan Altima, was located near the 99 Restaurant on Main Street. When police approached the vehicle while it was stopped near Pond Street, Mallett was located in the backseat.

Police say Mallett had more than $700 in cash, which is similar to the amount stolen from the bank.
