Student Bragging About Possessing Weapon Leads to Weymouth High Lockdown
A student boasting about possessing a weapon caused Weymouth High School to go into lockdown for nearly 80 minutes.

A student boasting about possessing a weapon has led to a lockdown at Weymouth High School.
At 12:02 p.m., teachers and staff were told to stay put after a classroom of students and a teacher reported that they overheard a student outside of their classroom boasting that he had a weapon on him according to a statement from Weymouth High School principal Peter Haviland.
Within minutes, Weymouth police were on the scene and the suspect was located 10 minutes later.

The suspect was taken into custody and it was determined that he did not have a weapon on him.
Speaker Robert DeLeo and state Rep. James Murphy were at the school earlier for an event and were kept in a locked office during the incident.

The lockdown was lifted at 1:20 p.m. and students and teachers were allowed to continue the day as normal.
The incident remains under investigation.
