Accused Robber Charged With Shooting Person Held Without Bail
Police say an employee at Rooney's Gast Station was shot during an attempted robbery.

WEYMOUTH, MA — An attempted robbery at a gas station turned into a shooting, according to police.
Christopher M. Tanguay, 22, of Weymouth, was arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to attempted armed robbery while masked, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by discharging a firearm, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Officers responded to a reported robbery and shooting at Rooney’s Gas Station on Main Street at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday night. Witnesses told police that a masked man, identified as Tanguay, approach the store and when he realized it was locked, Tanguay allegedly demanded that the store employee open it before shooting him in the shoulder.

Tanguay then fled towards the woods and he was located in the area. While questioned by police, he began to ask hypothetical questions about the crime and gun charges, according to a police report.
During an interview with police, Tanguay allegedly admitted to going to the gas station with the intent of robbing it.

The person who was shot in the shoulder was taken to South Shore Hospital.
Tanguay is due back in court Feb. 21.
