Band Plays Patriotic Program on Patriots Day Weekend in East Weymouth

The concert is geared for families and for armed forces veterans and their families.

A program of patriotic music for Patriots Day weekend is the next offering of Music at Sanctuary Hall and will feature the Sharon Concert Band.  

The band, a 55-piece symphonic ensemble of professional and semi-professional musicians, will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at East Weymouth Congregational Church, 1320 Commercial St. at Jackson Square.

 “The concert is geared for families, and especially for armed forces veterans and their families,” said Victor DeRubeis, director of music at East Weymouth Congregational Church and founder of Music at Sanctuary Hall. “The Sharon Concert Band’s repertoire includes traditional and contemporary arrangements of patriotic music and American tunes, and the concert-hall quality of the setting is superb.”  

The April concert is the fifth in in the 2012-13 series of diverse musical offerings that have included Jake and Taylor Armerding in November, a Christmas carol sing in December and the annual Little Christmas in Jackson Square concert in January.
The annual Barbara Knapp Memorial Concert by the Southeastern Philharmonic Orchestra in May at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3.  

Admission is $10 individual, $25 per family and $5 for students 18 and younger and those 62 and older.
