Brockton Man Charged with Unarmed Robbery in Weymouth

Mark Dwyer​ was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery and for the four outstanding warrants.

WEYMOUTH, MA — Officers arrested Mark Dwyer, 29, of Brockton following a bank robbery at the Equitable Bank at 744 Broad St. in Weymouth. At approximately 1:50 p.m., Equitable Bank reported that they had just been robbed by a male party in a gray sweatshirt and jeans. A witness reported that suspect fled through the church parking lot towards Commercial Street.

Officer Joseph Sgambato encountered a male party running away from the area on East Street, who was subsequently identified as Dwyer. While speaking with Dwyer, Officer Sgambato noticed a large bulge in his left pocket. The bulge was allegedly found to contain a large sum of cash. Dwyer was also discovered to have four outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Officers recovered a gray sweatshirt, a latex glove, a baseball hat, and a pair of sunglasses in the church parking lot.

Dwyer was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery and for the four outstanding warrants.

Dwyer is being held without bail at the Weymouth Police Department and is scheduled for arraignment in Quincy District Court on Monday.
