The Boston Metro Baseball League will host the 25th Annual Winterball Baseball Game on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Libby Field in Weymouth with first pitch at 11:00 a.m. The 2025 matchup features the Snow Globe Smashers facing the Mistletoe Mashers.

Baseball With a Mission

Winterball supports the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots program. Every player must bring at least one new, unwrapped toy to take the field. These donations help provide holiday gifts for children in need. It is baseball for a cause, built on generosity and community spirit.

Festive Atmosphere at Libby Field

Weymouth embraces Winterball with full holiday cheer. Dugouts are decorated for Christmas and the entire outfield fence is lined with seasonal displays courtesy of the town of Weymouth. Many players arrive dressed in holiday attire and previous years have even featured Santa Claus taking an at-bat. It is a holiday baseball scene that energizes players and spectators alike.

Marines Collect the Toys

Three United States Marines will be on site to collect toys and join the pregame activities. Corporal Tlaxcalteca, Corporal Bolourirad, and Lance Corporal Cruz will represent Toys for Tots this year. Marines often take part in the game, stepping into the lineup, and adding to the fun while keeping the focus on helping children.

Local and State Leaders Supporting the Event

Weymouth Mayor Mike Molisse has confirmed he will attend. Massachusetts State Senator Patrick M. O’Connor, a Weymouth native elected to the Senate in 2016, and Kathy Rober Kelly, Elected District 1 Councilor, are also expected to join. Councilor at Large Fred Happel, who has supported Winterball each year since the game moved to Weymouth, will also be present.

A Word From the Founder

“Winterball started as a group of crazy baseball players who just wanted to extend the season and play in the snow in December. After the first couple of years, we realized we could give back while playing. One of our players at the time had been a Toys for Tots recipient as a child and made the suggestion. The rest is history,” said Brett Rudy, founder of the Winterball game.

“Twenty five years later, seeing baseball players, Marines, and community leaders gather on a Christmassy baseball field to bring toys for kids shows how a nutty concept has grown into a tradition that makes a huge impact on kids at Christmas.”

Join the Fun

Families, fans, and community members are invited to attend, drop off toys, and enjoy a December morning of baseball.
