'Career Criminal' Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Guns

George J. Perry, 40, who was classified by in U.S. District Court as an armed career criminal, was sentenced Thursday.

QUINCY, MA — A Qunicy man who is a convicted felon will serve time in prison for stealing and possessing firearms and ammunition.

George J. Perry, 40, who was classified by in U.S. District Court as an armed career criminal, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

In February 2015, police learned that Perry had assaulted a individual in Waltham. When police located Perry, they found two loaded semi-automatic firearms inside his backpack, authorities said. One of the firearms, a .40 caliber IWI Desert Storm, was loaded with 10 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition and the other firearm, a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic, was loaded with 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Perry later admitted to stealing the firearms.

In February 2016, Perry pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearms and ammunition.
