Channing Church Kids Give Valentines to Webster Park Residents
On Sunday, February 9, 2020, children from Channing Unitarian Universalist Church in Rockland, Mass. handed out Valentines to the residents at Webster Park Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Candita Caracci Mamet, the Director of Religious Education at Channing Church, read a blessing and the children sang “This Little Light of Mine” as they handed out handmade Valentines to the staff and residents. After their visit, the children returned to Channing Church for their annual Chocolate Auction event.
The children spent the past couple of weeks crafting more than 50 cards to hand out at Webster Park. Located just across the street from the church, the children visit Webster Park around various holidays to share their infectious cheer, smiles, and songs with residents undergoing post-acute, cardiopulmonary, and long-term care.
“Valentine’s Day is not just about romance between couples, and as a community we can show our love,” said Mamet. “This special visit to Webster Park allows us to embrace and practice our first principle of Unitarian Universalism: ‘The inherent worth and dignity of every person.’”
