Contractor Named For Weymouth's Tufts Library
The $24.1 million project will knock down the decades-old building and construct a new 50,000-square-foot library.

WEYMOUTH, MA – The town has named its contractor for the new 50,000-square-foot Tufts Library. CTA Construction Managers announced Wednesday it has been awarded the contract for the $24.1 million project.
"We are thrilled to have been selected as the construction managers for this exciting project that will feature a variety of reading and community spaces and the latest technology," Jeffery Hazelwood, principal at CTA Construction, said in a statement. "This new, state-of-the-art library will serve the community for generations to come, and we are looking forward to working with the Town of Weymouth and all of our partners as we begin the remediation and construction process."
The project is a collaboration between Weymouth and the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program, which awarded the town over $12 million. The current library, which is over 50 years old, will be torn down and replaced by a modernized library, which will include an expanded children’s services department, community meeting rooms, open reading areas, study rooms, a local history center, an outdoor amphitheater and outdoor open spaces.
