Coyote Nearly Captures Weymouth Pet

WEYMOUTH, MA — A local cat almost became a coyote's snack Wednesday.

The Weymouth Police Department and Animal Control are warning residents to not leave their pets alone following the attack. Police say the cat was taken by a coyote in the Great Hill area before it dropped the pet after the owner yelled at it. The owner picked up the cat and was then chased by the coyote.

The cat's injuries were treated at a local veterinarian's office and the coyote was euthanized by Animal Control.

The coyote is being tested for rabies.
