Dorchester Woman Charged with Tasing Person, Pretending to be Cop

Police say Shunae Allen tased a man during a road rage incident in Quincy.

QUINCY, MA - A Dorchester woman pretended to be a police officer used a taser on a person during a road rage incident near a Quincy supermarket, police said.

Shunae Allen, 35, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and impersonating a police officer, according to the Quincy Police Department.

Wednesday night at around 8:45 p.m., police responded to a reported assault with a taser near Roche Brothers on Falls Boulevard. The victim and his girlfriend told police that while driving on Quincy Avenue towards Fall Boulevard, a Land Rover, allegedly operated by Allen, began to ride their bumper, with the driver honking the horn and flashing the vehicle’s lights.

After the victim’s car turned into the Roche Brothers parking lot. Allen continued to follow them at a close distance while honking the horn and flashing the car’s lights. After parking the car, Allen approached the passenger side of the victim's car and allegedly tased the victim. When the victim told Allen he was going to call the police, Allen allegedly replied that she was a police officer with a license to carry a taser. Allen then fled the scene in her vehicle.

A witness told police that he observed an argument between a male and a female, with the female taking off in an SUV after pulling out what appeared to be a stun gun. When asked if he saw the weapon, he said he saw electricity and figured that's what it was.

While speaking with the victim and reporting party, police located a Land Rover driven by a woman fitting Allen's description.

Police took Allen into custody. A taser was not located.

In Massachusetts, only law enforcement officers are allowed to carry tasers. Those found guilty of the crime face a fine of $500-$1,000 or up to two and a half years in prison, police said.

Allen was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday morning.
