Electrical Fire Causes $20,000 in Damage to Weymouth Home

Up to four people were displaced due to the blaze.

WEYMOUTH, MA - Firefighters responded to a blaze early Tuesday morning that left up to four people on Mace Avenue temporarily homeless.

Capt. Charles White told the Patriot Ledger that crews were able to quickly extinguish an electrical fire in the attic of a two-family home shortly after 4 a.m. The fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damage.

The Weymouth Fire Department says the fire was caused by improper electrical work.

Officials from the Red Cross were able to place two residents in a hotel and provide them with money for necessities. Two others left before representatives arrived.
