Ex-Lunch Lady Admits to Sex with 15-Year-Old Student

Janelle Foley, who worked at Chapman Middle School in Weymouth, was sentenced Wednesday in Norfolk County Superior Court.

WEYMOUTH, MA - A former Weymouth Public Schools employee pleaded guilty Wednesday to statutory rape charges.

Janelle Foley pleaded guilty to four counts of rape of a child in Norfolk County Superior Court in Dedham, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office. She was sentenced to two and a half to four and a half years in state prison, followed by five years of probation.

While on probation, Foley must submit to GPS monitoring, have no contact with the victim and his family, no unsupervised contact with children under 18, except her own children, abstain from drugs and alcohol with random testing, no work or volunteering with children under 18, comply with mental health counseling and conditions, take all medications as prescribed, register as a sex offender, and undergo a sex offender evaluation.

Foley’s request for a stay of sentence through February vacation was denied by Judge Thomas Connors.

In January 2014, Foley, formerly a cafeteria worker at Chapman Middle School, was arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old student. According to prosecutors, the two had sex around Thanksgiving and knew each other through family friends.

Prior to Wednesday, she pleaded not guilty and was free on $5,000 bail and the conditions that she wear a GPS device and have no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 aside from her children.
