Fore River Bridge Goes to One Lane Each Way This Summer

There's going to be a lot of construction at the bridge this summer.

WEYMOUTH, MA — This summer is going to bring some tough travel to the Fore River Bridge.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation recently announced that lane reductions will being on June 2 due to construction which will lead to two lanes of traffic each way.

Here's what to expect through Oct. 1:

  • June 2-Aug. 31: One lane of travel each way.
  • Sept. 1-Oct. 1: Three lanes of travel will be maintained, but the number of lanes per direction will vary.

On October 1, there will be two lanes of travel in each direction on the new Fore River Bridge as crews continue construction operations and work towards achieving full beneficial use of the bridge by the spring of 2018.

MassDOT will hold the public information meetings at the Fore River Club House in Quincy at 6:30 p.m. on May 18 and the Adams Middle School at 6:30 p.m. on May 23.
