Hanover Fire On Winter Street Reaches 5th Alarm

Crews from throughout the South Shore provided mutual aid as a fire on Winter Street in Hanover reached five alarms on Friday.

HANOVER, MA — A fire on Winter Street in Hanover reach five alarms Friday afternoon as crews from throughout the South Shore helped knock down a blaze at a mixed residential and commercial building. The Plymouth County Control mutual aid system reported at the height of the blaze there were 10 engines on scene.

Winter Street was closed as crews fought the fire that filled the neighborhood with heavy smoke. Witnesses at the scene told WATD-FM that there were no injuries, the building appeared to be a total loss and that the fire appeared to be under control by around 5 p.m.

At the height of the fire, Abington, Brockton, Hingham, Halifax, Norwell, Pembroke and Scituate engines had responded, while Weymouth and Marshfield engines were staging at King Street at School Street nearby.
