Weymouth Pair Charged After Trying to Sell Fake Heroin

A man and a woman were arrested on Pilgrim Road.

A man and woman from Weymouth have been charged with possession with intent to sell fake heroin.

WCVB reported that officers arrested Amber K. Douglas, 20, of 23 Caldwell St., and Jacob M. Bennett, 23, of 27 Manomet Road, at about 6:17 p.m. Friday in a driveway on Pilgrim Road.

The pair faces several charges including possession with intent to distribute fake heroin, as well as real heroin, WHDH reported. They were arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute a counterfeit substance, conspiracy and a drug violation near a park. Bennett was also charged with obstruction of justice.

An officer had spotted the pair driving away from a North Weymouth convenience store and followed because he knew Bennett had an active warrant for shoplifting, according to a police report.

Douglas was released on her promise to return to court on Jan. 5. Bennett posted $700 cash bail and is due back in court on Oct. 24.
