Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle Identified

Authorities say that a man in his 80s was killed while attempting to cross Hancock Street in Quincy.

An elderly Quincy man has been identified as the victim of a pedestrian crash.

The Norfolk County District Attorney's office told the Patriot Ledger that Francis McCarthy was killed when he was hit by a 58-year-old woman from Boston. No charges have been filed and she stayed at the scene.

Thursday night around, 7:03 p.m., McCarthy was struck on Hancock Street near Albion Road. A preliminary investigation by the Quincy Police Department indicated that the pedestrian was crossing the street when a vehicle traveling north hit him.

McCarthy was transported to Boston Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
