The memory loss community is expected to open Oct. 1 in South Weymouth.
A new assisted living community for people with Alzheimer’s and memory loss will open in October in South Weymouth.
Monarch Homes of Weymouth, a new 51-unit assisted living community is expected to open one block from South Shore Hospital at 670 Main Street on Route 18.
It will be the town’s first and only all-memory care assisted living community, said Greg Anderson, a spokesman for the new center.

Anderson said the new facility is not a nursing home and will include activities that will stimulate the minds of its residents.
“We are able to provide a comprehensive, behavioral focused environment for people with memory loss,” Anderson said. “We will have scheduled activities seven days a week. There are programs that help stem the decline of memory loss.”

Executive Director LuAnn Shine said even the colors in the community are strategically chosen and placed throughout the building to assist with way-finding and mitigate resident confusion.
Monarch Homes will include private and companion suites in a residential environment, a seven day activities and programming calendar, 24-hour personal care services led by an experienced nursing team, an art life safety technology, and fully accessible indoor and outdoor spaces.
The center will also include nutritious meals and snacks, and personal laundry.
The new living community will be owned by partners Paul Maggiore and David Errico.
Maggiore has been a Woburn-based builder and developer for 35 years and has built more than 10 million square feet of commercial and residential real estate. Errico spent 15 years developing senior housing communities in New England.
Both partners have had personal experiences with loved ones suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and understand what families are faced with. Their goal is to create a community that is home for our residents where their families feel as welcome and comfortable as they do.
An information Center is now open and located at the construction site at 670 Main Street in South Weymouth.
