New Derby Street Business Looks to Match Moms With The Perfect Outfit
Hot Mama will open today at 10 a.m. at the Derby Street Shoppes. The first 50 customers will receive a gift card.
The South Shore's newest clothing store is helping mothers look their best.
Hot Mama, which opens Thursday at the Derby Street Shoppes, looks to help mothers of all ages fit into the perfect outfit, Regional Director Donna Dalton said.
“We’re different from most companies in that we help women find things that fit their body type,” Dalton said.

Hot Mama does not hire sales reps, but instead stylists who will give advice to customers on what trends fit their body types.
Hingham store manager Molly Martancik said the stylists will work with moms and encourage customers to try on different outfits.

“We want them to leave here and get compliments,” Martancik said.
Dalton said the store carries designer labels and premium denim.
A California mom started the clothing company in 2004 after she struggled to find clothes to fit her post-baby body. With locations in 13 other states, Hot Mama offers clothes that mothers can wear to a board meeting, a son’s baseball game, or a date night with the hubby, the company website said.
Dalton said Hot Mama understands the importance of finding the best outfit for each customer.
“When a woman feels good about her appearance, it benefits everyone around them,” she said.
Hot Mama will open Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Derby Street Shoppes. The company’s Marketing Director Jennifer Mahlik said guests who stop by the new Hingham store from Thursday to Sunday will receive 10 percent off all items. The first 50 customers on these days will also receive a free Hot Mama gift card.
Hot Mama is also planning to open its second Massachusetts location this summer in Lynnfield.
The new store will open at the Derby Shoppes, between Jos. A. Bank and Baby Gap, in the location that used to be the London Harness Company.
