New Restaurant to Open Today at Derby Street Shoppes

Legal C Bar, a Legal Sea Foods brand, will officially open at the Derby Street Shoppes on Thursday, minutes from Weymouth.

Restaurant spokeswoman Lindsay Rotondi said Legal C Bar will be open for dinner on Thursday and Friday and will begin serving lunch on Saturday.

The new Hingham seafood restaurant will be open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Executive Chef Richard Vellante will serve everything from crab cakes, lobster bake, popcorn shrimp, and seafood casserole,  to sweet ad spicy ribs and linguine and clams.

From the bar, Legal C Bar features 19 signature cocktails, according to Rotondi.  They range from Blueberry Thyme Collins to Pineapple Coconut Smash and a trio of Sangria options.

The restaurant will also offer take out service and a extensive dessert menu.

Legal C Bar will replace the Summer Shack at the Derby Street Shoppes and plans to bring a new bar-centric experience.

The new restaurant has made renovations to its new location which includes designs inspired from the tools and equipment used in the fishing industry, according to Rotondi.  

“The canopy over the bar is reminiscent of a lobster trap and a sea of hanging ropes serve as lighting over the communal tables,” Rotondi said in an email.  “It is a bar-centric experience, but the open floor plan is visually zoned so guests can choose to be ‘in the action’ or at the periphery in more intimate seating divided by glass and steel room dividers.”

All the designs were created by Prellwitz Chilinski Associates.

The new Hingham restaurant will also have 195 seats in their 6,500 square feet space and will be the Legal Sea Foods company's third Legal C Bar.  The other locations are at Legacy Place in Dedham and Terminal B at the Logan Airport.
